日本の旗 (にほんのはた) nihon/nippon no hata - Literally "Japan's flag" or "the flag of Japan". You could also simply replace "hata" with flag ("furagu" when pronounced the Japanese way).

If you're referring to the Japanese flag in the same way that Americans refer to the "stars and stripes", then you can call it "hi no maru". 日の丸 (ひのまる).
