Welcome,

Most peoples first language in NZ is English, but there are the Indians,Asians etc,

But if you mean how to say welcome in Maori-- (which is New Zealands culture-- not everyone is Maori, but Maori is the native ethnicity,) you would say

Kia Ora, -- Roll the R

or Tena Koe (tena qway)

In most cases you simply say 'How are you?" since English is the main language of New Zealand and everybody speaks it. If you meet a Maori there and you insist on saying it in his language, you say "Pehea e koe?"

A distinctly New Zealand greeting used instead of 'hello' is the casual Maori greeting 'Kia Ora'. The English translation would be something like 'I wish you well'.

You usually say Hello or Hey and greet them in the usual way.

'Kia ora' is a common, uniquely New Zealand greeting.
