The easy singles:
mon amie / ma copine (one girl)
mon ami / mon copain (one boy)
Now it gets a little difficult:
mes amies / mes copines (this is said when you are talking about more than one girl, but no boys)
mes amis / mes copains (this can either be said when you are talking about more than one boy - but it is also used for when you are talking about a group of boys and girls.
For example:
If you were going to talk about going to the cinema with two girl friends it would be something like: Je vais aller au cinéma avec mes amies / copines.
But if you were going to the cinema with two boy friends it would be like: Je vais aller au cinéma avec mes amis / copains.
AND if you were going to the cinema with a girl and a boy friend you would say the same as before: Je vais aller au cinéma avec mes amis / copains.
Thank you.
Mon ami ( if it's a guy ) or ma amie (if it's a girl)
or
Mon copain (guy) or ma copine (girl)
*NOTE* French ppl refer to their friends as uncopain (guy) or une copine (girl). When they say moncopain or ma copine, they mean their girlfriend or boyfriend. Be careful!
