try to say [yokatta]
Don't forget the ending stem such as desu "yokatta desu".
yoktta works for most "it was good" type phrases other than food.
For food, it would be "oishikatta desu".
The food was good.
tabemono WA oishikatta desu.
食べ物はおいしかったです。
