If theres a miss fire on a cylinder you check engine light will tell you.. Switch the coil from that cylinder to another and siwtch that coil to the cylinder that the computer says is missifing.
If the cylinder you put your suspected coil on miss fires then you know its a bum coil.
Use a scanner to see which cylinder(s) has the misfire if its two that are fired by the same coil then replace the coil if its just one its probably a bad plug or wire The coils are unbolted by using a 5.5 mm socket
Help out please? To see a diagram of the steering unit for a 2002 Chevy Tahoe.?"
coil packs they are beside the balancer on the crank that area easy to see from underneath
Well on a small block Chevy there will be no coil wire going from the top of the cap to a coil. What you can do to see the difference is go here.
See answer for same question on 2004 Chevy avalanche. JIT
They are compatible but they had standard or heavy duty available. That would be the only difference. You could measure the thickness of the springs with a micrometer to see if they are a match or not.
Many possiblities. It depends on if you have a coil or an HEI ignition. If you have a coil, check your distributor to make sure your coil wire is attached properly. If your coil is attached, unplug it from your distributor and hold it close to the connection while someone cranks your engine. If you do not see a spark, your coil is bad. If you do see a spark, your rotor might be bad, or your points.
see if the coil is sparking to the distributor cap
well depending on the car if you look at the cylinder of the coil you suspect is bad you might see Browning almost like the cylinders overheating... Or pull the coil out and check for what looks like melting on the coil itself. also try pulling coil partway out of the cylinder and have someone turn car to accessory but not on! if you see a spark then the coil is working fine. hope this helps :)
Check your headlight switch to see if working properly, replace dome light bulb, or check fuse ILLUM in the by the driver side door.
The coil packs are attached to the plug wires. Coil packs are interchangable so when I suspect a bad one, I switch the one next to it to see if the problem moves to the other two cylinders. You can also use a inexpensive spark plug tester that clips on to the wire to see how the coil pack is firing thru the plug wire.
there is one coil for each cylinder, and there's 4 coils mounted to each spark plug cover. open the hood. you'll see the spark plug wires. those go directly into each coil
