Start by draining the old fluid, restoring the drain plug and tightening, removing the transmission cooler line connection near the radiator then putting three quarts of fluid in the transmission though the dip stick. Next put a length of fuel line on the metal tube where you disconnected the cooler line and directed the other end into a container so you could see the color of the fluid flowing out. Finally, start the car (with a helper) so you could determine when the fluid ran out, if any.
