You can set the cam timing, on your 1995 Yamaha motorcycle, by synchronizing the fuel and exhaust valves to the camshaft position. This can be accomplished by adjusting the valve of adjustment screws.
To adjust the timing for a 1981 Yamaha Maxim XJ 650, remove the spark plug wires and remove both spark plugs counterclockwise. Then remove the cam chain adjustment cap on the back of the cylinders just below the carburetor to be able to adjust the timing.
I've noticed this question hasn't been answered and will try to offer a tip: The Gr650
motor is an enlarged version of the very popular GS400, 425, 450, and 500 series. By going to your search engine and looking up "GS Resources" and other similar sites, you will find Both the basic "line up the marks" information, which can be found in any GS400 through 500 manual) and the more complicated racing procedure of "Dialing in the cams"
If you look at both engines, you'll see how similar they are. I know this because I own both a GS450 and a GR650. Good luck!
The oil capacity for the GR650 Tempter is 2.8L.
