Following discussion pertains to MOSS and Office 2007: - In Office 2007, file menu can be used to open documents from sharepoint document libraries. Documents can be checked-in, checked-out, worked upon using document Information Panel. Their metadata properties can be changed using Document Action Panel. It is not clear what you are trying to do. It sounds like you might be trying to save a document stored on SharePoint. In any event, if you can open the document, you should be able to SaveAs and save the document to any file location to which you have access.

Document properties will always work from the date on the computer, so if you change the system date and open and save a file, it will use the system date for when it was changed. So changing the system date can affect document properties if you do something with the file.
Open Powerpoint. select a theme that you wish you use in sharepoint. Save it as .thmx file. Now browse to your sharepoint 2010 site. Go to site settings > themes. On the ribbon tab, select Documents > upload a document. add your saved thmx file and now it will be available in the list of available site themes in sharepoint site. To change the theme, go to site settings > site theme and select the theme you just uploaded.

Programmatically, you can iterate through the document library and then the items, grab their URL and start adding lists either to a text file or an xml file using XML DOM or streamwriter.
