You show respect to your computer by treating it properly, and not abusing it.

If it's a laptop, don't drop it or slam it onto your desk or tabletop. Avoid spilling liquids across the keyboard, or use a plastic keyboard protector. Keep the hard drive away from magnets. To avoid damaging the internal circuitry, make sure you discharge any static electricity (by touching a metal surface not connected to your computer equipment) before turning the computer on or off.

To show respect to the data stored on your computer, invest in a good firewall and anti-virus program, and be sure to keep it up to date. Protect valuable or sensitive information with a password; and most importantly, BACK UP YOUR DATA REGULARLY.
