You need to take it to the dealer and auto part store to have the computer reset. Been there, daughter did it!
I am not sure of the other 4 reasons But in my experience the top reason your check engine light comes on is because your gas cap isn't tightened all the way.
The most likely cause o f the check engine light is that the belt was not tightened properly. It may also be that the belt stretched and needs to be retightened.
It can take up to a week for the check engine light to go off after you have tightened the fuel cap. If it is still not going off it could be a sign of a bigger problem. Take it to a place and they can hook it up to a computer and diagnose the problem.
It could be that you have not tightened the cap on your gas tank. Be sure to check the gas cap and see if its being properly tightened. That was the case for me a couple of times.
Check your fluid levels.
When the check engine light comes on, do not ignore it. This is an obvious sign to get the engine checked. However, before you do so, you have to see if the cap is loose because this sometimes causes the light to appear. Once that's tightened, the light should disappear.
check power to fans,if power check fan sensor!!
Go to "Autozone" and get them to do a readout.Find you an "Honest Mechanic" and get them to fix it,ok?
There are pages and pages of things that can cause a check engine light. You need to have it checked with a scantool. Then the code can be diagnosed and repaired.
There is an engine misfire, probably spark plugs issue.
First I would check the gas cap. If it's not tightened until it clicks several times it can make the check engine light come on.
Fix the problem causing them to be on.
