Interlock the fingers on both your hands, move them in a circle on a flat plane in front of you, and then sign AGENT (separate your hands and move them both down vertically). Essentially what you're doing is saying "America person."
You can also look up "American" on [link] or look at "America" and "person" on [link]

American Sign language is for use by and with deaf and hard of hearing people (many hearing people also "speak" ASL) and involves hand signals, bodily gestures, and facial expressions for use of communication.

To Sign "American Sign Language" in ASL, you would sign:

"america", the "er" or "person/individual" sign, "sign", and "language.

A quick way is to simply spell A S L.

American Sign Language what does ameslam mean?

American Sign Language was once known {or referred to} (primarily by hearing people, or disability advocacy groups such as the American Red Cross) as Ameslan. There is no distinction between Ameslan and American Sign Language, except that the term "Ameslan" is no longer in prominent usage, wheras the terms American Sign Language and the abbreviated form ASL are. Currently, it is more proper to refer to this Sign Language as American Sign Language rather than Ameslan.
