Synchro Summoning is the process by which Players send, usually, a Tuner Monster and one or more non-Tuner monsters to the Graveyard from the field while they are face-up. This allows you to Special Summon one Synchro Monster from your Extra Deck. The combined Levels of the Synchro Material Monsters must be equal to the Synchro Monster itself. You can only Synchro Summon during your Main Phases (except with the card Urgent Tuning). This process is similar to the coined term, "Contact Fusion". Note that some Synchro Monsters may require specific Tuners or non-Tuner Monsters.

Egyptian God cards can be Special Summoned from the Graveyard. However, their card effect states that, "When this card is Special Summoned, it is sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase" (according to the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2009 versions).
