4X2 + 16X + 7 = 0

I would use the quadratic equation, but the answer will not be pretty here.

X = - b (+/-) sqrt(b2 - 4ac)/2a

a = 4

b = 16

c = 7

X = - 16 (+/-) sqrt[162 - 4(4)(7)]/2(4)

X = - 16 (+/-) sqrt[256 - 112]/8

X = - 16 (+/-) sqrt(144)/8

X = [- 16 (+/-) 12]/8

==================( not too ugly! )

X = - 1/2

X = - 7/2
