Open the TASK MANAGER, then click on the second icon from the left of the TASK MANAGER, which is about the programs running in your computer, in a list of names like 'BootCamp.exe.', and many others.
Next, find the icon that says 'MAPLESTORY.EXE', and click once(left click!) on the icon and then choose to exterminate this program at the bottom right corner of the task manager.
After the previous step, try open Maplestory, the game, of course, and see if you can open it successfully without trouble, which is the error code something like: (0X3241009) Initiallization Error or the other way round.
If it still does not work for you guys, restart is the best but most irritating and fustrating manner to get this problem solved.
This is a common error that occurs when loading up Maplestory. To fix, you can download patch 1.2 that was released on February 13th 2013. This is supposed to resolve all issues relating to error 40.

Well, you play MapleStory if you want to, if you don't, well, don't. But MapleStory don't have virus. AVG say "There is a virus in MapleStory.exe", but its just a error. In AVG 2011 this don't happen, however.
