if you are referring to the alchoholic drink, i think you mis-spelled it in english. it is
o-sake in hiragana, it is おさけ. hiragana is like the japanese alphabet. sounds with no meaning until you form a word. kanji are the chinese characters with meaning that often are words themselves. many words have kanji, but many words are not written in kanji. お酒 is the kanji. the お, pronounced 'oh' is added on to a word to make it polite. so, if you would like to be informal(not recommended) you can drop the お.
