I had to buy a new fuel pump. I installed it through ana access cover in the trunk. I t cost $273 and took 15 minutes to take the old one out and about 20 minutes to install the new one.

My 1999 Dodge van wouldn't start;ended up being the ground wire going to the fuel pump.We spliced into the ground wire where it enters the fuel pump(on top of the gas tank)and ran it to the nearest place on the body,and it works fine,still dont know where it came "ungrounded".

If you suddenly became low on fuel, perhaps you thought you had gas. then you ran out of gas, you tried filling the gas and then it didn't start. I would say that your fuel pump needs replacing.

Listen to see if you can hear the fuel pump make a noise when you first turn the key on. The fuel pump could have gone bad, they burn up quickly in a dry tank.
