You have to delete your old game and make a new game.
I have played Animal Crossing Game Cube (aka Animal Crossing Population Growing) for awhile and the only times I have been able to exit are when it says "Game Over" or I win (So you cant leave in the middle of a game) Sorry if you wanted to leave in the middle of a game.
if you want to get rid of an island i think you have to start all over again.

If you are trying to move from Animal crossing :wild world on ds to Animal Crossing: City Folk or Lets Go To The City, thenenter your animal crossing :WW into your ds and click ds download, then on AC:CF or LGTTC click that you want to move over from your ds when you start a new character, the moving van will then come upm on your nintendo. No you can't. However you can get them on the gamecube version on animal crossing, that is called 'animal crossing-population growing'. You can buy the gamecube version on places like eBay, due to the fact that they dont manufacture that game anymore. You can put gamecube games into the wii, a useful feature.
