How do you stop your sim from getting older on The Sims 2?

Sooooooo easy: Just open up a cheat window (ctrl+shift+c) and type in while on a lot and type in "aging (off)" w/o the quotes other wise just like that. This will make every one on the lot stop aging so if ya wanted the adults to stay young or just not die but ya wanted kids and stuff to keep going you will need something else. It is not against sim-nature (anything considered against sim-nature requires a cheat) to remain in an age group forever, though. Gather up 30000 aspiration points (or use a cheat [aspirationPoints (x) {don't type x, type a number, and yes you do need the parenthesis around the value}]) then go to the treasure chest with your sim's aspiration icon next to it under inventory. All the way at the end you will find something that looks like an hour glass on a pedestal. (it doesn't matter what expansion packs you have, to my knowledge it is always the last one) Place it on your lot and it will be green. Select the sim you want to stay the same age and click on the glass. The only option will be "drink elixir of life" Only teens and older will have the ability to use the elixir at all. Your sim will come up to the tap and the level of green liquid will drop. (once the barrel is empty all you can do is sell the elixir for $0) Sparkles will surround the sim and they will start jumping around. A message will come up saying "I feel refreshed with valuable days added to my life" WARNING: Depending on how low their aspiration meter is they may act like they have a head ache and get older instead. OR you could become a vampire. Apparently vampires don't age. To be a vampire go down town during the night and wait for a gray sim that walks with their arm over their face. befriend them and then wait for them to bite you. If you have boolProp on setHour (x=anything when its dark), shift-click the mailbox, force NPC-grand vampire, make them selectable and drag their relationship up and as the vampire tell them to bite the sim. Even easier, have the sim shift-select themselves and and just keep clicking more until you see the option labeled something like make vampire.

Open the Console by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+C, whilst in game. then type in

'aging off' -- to turn of aging or 'aging on' to re enable it.

You have to play a certain amount of sim days depending on where your sim is in the life stage. Then you could use a birthday cake or just select the sim and choose "Grow Up". Using cheats you access the cheat box by holding down Ctrl+Shift+C. THype in the cheat box boolprop testingcheatsenabled true and browse through all of the selections and click "set to birthday". Then use a birthday cake or select "Grow Up".

This is how you do it in Sims 3 and maybe Sims 2. Go to options, then game settings. Drag the cursor to make them live shorter. I hope it works!
