There are several ways that the greenhouse effect can be lessened or even reversed. Recycling, using less heat and air conditioning, replacing light bulbs, drive less, buying energy efficient products, turning off the lights, using less hot water, planting trees, and getting report cards from utility companies can all help lessen these effects.

  • We can stop burning fossil fuel (coal, oil and natural gas) which releases vast amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
  • We can stop putting organic waste into landfill where it decomposes and releases methane (a much more dangerous greenhouse gas).
  • We can eat less red meat, as cattle belch out methane.
  • We can stop cutting down rainforests and allow the trees to absorb carbon dioxide.
  • We can stop wasting electricity by turning appliances off at the wall, and by turning them off when we are not in the room.
  • We can cut back on the use of petroleum by using cars less, instead walking, cycling or using public transport.

We cannot STOP the greenhouse effect because it is a natural process but we can REDUCE it and to be able to do that we need to reduce the amount of gas and electricity we use, and save as of it as we can, so that less fossil fuels are burnt in supplying us with gas and electricity so that less carbon emmisions are emmited into the atmosphere.

  • Use more nuclear energy instead of burning fossil fuels
  • Use more renewable energy instead of burning fossil fuels
  • Reduce our reliance on fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas)

There is absolutely no way to stop greenhouse gases on your own. You need the effort from everyone in the entire world.

Stop burning coal and oil. We can burn as much wood and dung (yes, as much as 10% of the energy used in the World comes from burning dung) as we want.

Natural gas is a greenhouse gas, methane, and when it is burnt it releases the other greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide.

Is ozone a greenhouse gas?

Yes, ozone is a greenhouse gas. Any gas with three or more atoms in their molecule are greenhouse gases.

Can humans stop the greenhouse effect?

We don't want to stop the natural greenhouse effect, which keeps the earth warm enough for life. We can stop the enhanced (or accelerated) greenhouse effect which is causing global warming. But we have to act now and seriously, to move to renewable energy, stop burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas), and replant billions of trees.

What is the name of the greenhouse gas which destroys another greenhouse gas?

CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) destroy ozone.

What is oxygens role in greenhouse gases?

Oxygen is not a greenhouse gas. It deceases the greenhouse gases.

How do you know whether a gas is greenhouse gas i.e how a greenhouse gas is different from non-greenhouse gas?

A greenhouse gas is a gas (with at least three atoms) that traps heat inside the earth's atmosphere. Greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide and methane. It is important that some heat is trapped inside our atmosphere - otherwise the earth would freeze. But too much heat has a negative impact on the climate.

Is dihydrogen a greenhouse gas?

no, dihydrogen (H2) is not however dihydrogen monoxide is (H2O), Water vapor is the premiere greenhouse gas, it comprises over half of all the greenhouse gas found on our planet.

How water vapour as a greenhouse gas contributes to the greenhouse effect?

Water vapour is a greenhouse gas that traps heat rising from the surface of the earth. In doing so it contributes to the natural greenhouse effect.
