Self-injury, which includes the act of cutting oneself, might be done for any number of reasons. Often, it is a sign of an underlying mental illness, such as depression; the person who is harming themselves may use self-injury as a way of managing emotional pain. If you know someone who is engaging in self-harming behaviours, the best thing you can do is be supportive. Criticizing them or simply telling them to stop won't help the situation; instead, let them know that you care, and encourage the person to seek professional help.
Stop cutting. Get some help to figure out why you are doing it or what the cause is in your case. A friend of mine said it was pain that you could control unlike some other types of pain in their life that they couldn't control at the time. I can see where that might make sense, but that doesn't mean you have to continue cutting. A lot of things that might be causing you to cut can be dealt with in a better way.
