This will take some work since the horse is used to bucking while going forward. First try to figure out why the horse is bucking. It may have a sore back, a badly fitted saddle or saddle pad, the girth may be rubbing, etc. Once all of these have been ruled out the retraining can begin. You'll need to teach the horse that going forward is the best option, while bucking is not. When you are about to ask for the canter prepare for the buck and begin moving the horse sideways as soon as he starts to act up. Horses cannot buck while they are crossing their legs in a movement such as a sidepass. Once he learns that he'll be made to sidepass or possibly halt as soon as he bucks he'll begin to understand what you are asking. Reward him when he moves into the canter smoothly. If however after a month or so he has not improved you will need to contact a professional trainer to help you.

if your horse is bucking when you canter do this thing called a one rein stop it is when you reach down on one of you reins and pull it to your thigh and lock it there until your horse stops moving or bucking and then you can carry on and then if your horse bucks again in canter keep doing the one rein stop until your horse just wants to canter and not buck whilst cantering

How do you stop my horse from bucking when you go from a trot to a cater?

Well you'll need to find out whats causing the bucking in the first place. It could be a sore back, hocks, knees etc. Or an ill fitting saddle. Have a Equine vet do a work up on the horse to rule out soreness. After that have someone watch you ride the horse to evaluate the way you ride, if nothing seems to be the matter then the horse has developed a bad habit of bucking. To stop the bucking you need to figure out exactly when it's going to buck and intercept the behaviour. If he does it as you go into the canter you'll need to focus his attention into going forward instead of 'up' into a buck. If he continues to do it after several weeks of corrections you may need the help of a professional trainer.

When you canter your horse in the paddock he bucks because he wants to canter but when you canter him he bucks more from joy how can you stop his from doing this?

A horse only bucks if it is nervous, uncomfortable with the situation, or angry about something. It shouldn't be bucking from joy. A suggestion would be to practice control exercises at a walk, trot, and finally lope. DO NOT move on to a lope until your horse is moving fine at a steady trot and you are comfortable. Your horse should not be having any inclination to buck, hop, or do anything silly. Once you think you are ready for a lope again, pick him up and hopefully he will have the buck out of him. If he is still bucking, practice the same exercises that you did at a trot, as they should be familiar to him. Keep him occupied, doing circles, serpentine etc until he is focused on you. If he really starts bucking, pull him around in a tight circle and start over again. Some control exercises you could try would be collecting, perfecting circles (but not overdoing it) or even fun things like small jumps. DO NOT canter him if he is bucking at a trot and trying to speed up, not because you are scared, but because it just implants the idea that he can buck whenever he wants and speed up too. Hope this helped!

How to stop a horse from bucking?

This has happened alot to me, and from personal experience, I can truthfully say there is no way to really make a young horse stop bucking when it's running. The only thing you can do is try to hold on and pull their head up every chance you get.

How do you tell your horse to canter in French?

Will a daisy rein stop pony bucking?

The theory is that if the horse can't get his head down he can't get his back end up. It may help depending on your horse. Monty Robers has what is called a 'buckbuster' which is specifically for the purpose of bucking not grass nibbling.

What is a pirouette at canter?

A pirouette at a canter is when you make a full circle (left or right) on your horse's back feet. Its the same at the walk, except the pirouette at the canter is at a canter, if a slow one (your horse should be able to canter on the spot).

How can you transition into a smooth canter straight from a trot?

By telling your horse to canter...but your horse needs to know how to canter and needs lots of practise, and he also needs to know the command "canter". after he/she gets what you want, practise going from a trot to a canter. soon enough your horse will be transitioning smoothly! good luck!

Can you make your horse canter whilst staying seated?

Yes you can make your horse canter whilst staying seated

On your horse can you canter while staying seated?

yes, that is the correct way to ask a horse for canter in English riding and western both. to ask a horse for canter or lope, you sit deep in the saddle, use only outide leg and inside rein and if you ask right, your horse should canter.
