Absence of hair color can be attributed to lack of pigment and melanin, and will appear white or gray due to how light reflects hair. This happens with old age, vitamin deficiency, or when hair dying products (like bleaching) are used incorrectly.
It's impossible to completely strip permanent hair-color, but washing your hair a lot in hot water-but obviously not hot to the point that it hurts you-can help seep hair dye out of hair.
