That can't be done on Windows Movie Maker.
Windows does not have a webcam. Windows come with a built in driver used for most laptop cameras. These laptop cameras are from different manufacturers. Microsoft however do have a series of add on cameras names LifeCam.
If you have a simple idea, you wont need expensive editing software. If you have a Mac, you can edit with iMovie which is standered, and if you use windows you can edit with Windows Movie Maker, also standered. As far a props go, try to build/reuse things, or shop at cheap stories. For filming, digital cameras with a video setting dont run to expensive, and the Flip cameras are pretty cheap and decent quality
