I had no idea how to take close-ups either. I have a Casio 7.2 EX-Z75 and had good luck with just turning off the "EasyMode", then hitting the BS button to choose the type of photo I wanted to take.
I choose "flower", and that's worked fine for taking close-up photos of small labels for my eBay listing items. Somebody should really post more detailed instructions about how to find different onscreen options, for people who are not camera-savvy.

The perfect digital cameras to take close up photos are point and shoot cameras. You may not need extra lens to get the close up photos. Nikon is a good brand of camera to take close up photos.

It is when you zoom in with the lens (the cylinder part) so the thing you are wanting to take a picture of looks like you are really close to it and can make your picture look better :)) It is called Short Distance Photography.
The subject might be too close to the camera. If it has a macro mode try turning that on
