How do you take care of an infected lip piercing?

"I suggest dont play with it , ( i know its hard :( trust me i had one) and take it out slowly clean inside AND OUT with alchohol and then make sure nothing blocking it dont abuse the skin , dont pull or push it if your having problems putting it in from the inside try a different angle and if your have trouble put it in in genereal poke an earring through ( they always go through) and then move the earring around and then put it in slowly

DO NOT ever remove the piercing during initial healing, first of all. Alcohol will dry the piercing and cause soreness, flaking, and irritate it further. Use a warm compress and sea-salt solutions to clean the discharge from it, apply a sea-salt and warm water solution and rotate gently. If you have bactine, just spray it on the outside and rotating won't be necessary. Use mouthwash after every meal, don't toy with the piercing at all if you can help it, and when you clean it make sure your hands are clean, always wash them first. Use anti-bacterial soap like Dial on them, if the discharge turns green or the swelling gets ridiculous, suck on some ice and clean them immediately, then check your lymph nodes. If your lymph glads are swollen, go see a doctor or your piercer as soon as possible, they'll be more than happy to help you with it from there. If you take good care of your piercing and don't play with it (too much, I know it's hard), then it should heal just fine and the infection will go away. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PIERCING OUT. DO NOT EVER USE ALCOHOL TO CLEAN YOUR PIERCING.DO NOT USE NEOSPORIN. Just clean it two-three times a day, use mouthwash and a soft-bristle toothbrush to clean your mouth, and I really recommend you getting some Bactine if you don't have any. It helps, trust me- I just got my own lip pierced, and this is all directly from my piercer, so trust me when I say that as hard as it is to follow these instructions, you'll be a lot happier if you do.

Well cleaning the piercing at least twice a day with warm water and diluted liquid antibacterial soap would be the best start, be sure to rinse the piercing under pleanty of warm water while rotating the jewellery. It is important that you stop using anything else to clean the piercing, sprays, lotions, salts or any other woo woo magic stuff, just soap and water. This done twice a day should turn the piercing around in about 24 to 48 hours, barring that if the infection becomes worse see your doctor.

You don't wan to take jewelry out of an infected piercing. You only switch out the jewelry if it's acrylic or poor quality. Since its already done, go to a doctor and they should prescribe antibiotics to help clear up the infection.

Go to a doctor. If it really is infected, they'll give you antibiotics to clear up the infection before it gets worse. If you arent already, wear only surgical steel, titanium, or glass jewelry and continue to clean it with the sea salt and water. Don't remove the jewelry completely or you might end up with an abcess.
