On a 2000 Chevy Impala, the fuse box is located on the edge of the dash, just inside the drivers side door To take the panel off, place your fingers in the indentation and pull straight off. If you are having trouble, you can use a screwdriver to gently pry it off.
If your gas gauge is not working on your 2000 Impala you need to take it in to a repair shop. There could be a fuse that needs to be replaced to prevent you from running out of gas.
Take off all the screws on the door panel.
Remove the 2 screws under the fuse covers, the 2 on the panel under the steering wheel, and 2 by the odometer. Then gently and slowly pull the face off. Make sure you don't tug at it or you'll break the clips.

The fuse box panels are located on either side of the dash (you have to open the car doors to access them). The panels are held in place by clips, so to remove the panel you just pull it off. (It may take what feels like a lot of force).
Take it to the dealer
Look under the steering wheel at the plastic cover. There will be a fuse cover to the left. Take off the fuse cover, and then take off the computer cover right underneath the fuse cover. The plug is attached to the plastic cover under the steering wheel to the left, under the fuse access removable panel.

The flashers are in the DS fuse panel, behind that fuse panel there is also a flasher relay that controls the truck and trailer signal lights and the trailer brake lights. To get to the back of the fuse panel you must take the bottom part of the dash off.
On the driver's side kick panel. There is a bolt you have to take out to access it. Below dash on left kick panel.
