Once he has got used to the canter a bit more (or if he has a habit of being quite lazy) then slightly use your leg, putting the outside leg slightly behind the girth etc, as well as using your voice. after a while of this he will also become used to the leg command. If he has a habit of striking on the wrong leg after allot of cantering, then use circles, and he should automatically change his leg, or go back to trot and keep asking for canter until he strikes on the wrong leg. Remember not to canter for long at first, as your horse will have to build up the muscles to help himself remain balanced, so after a few strides it is a good idea to go back to trot, And gradually increase the amount of time spent cantering.
