Poisonous Caterpillars

WikiAnswers contributors share their caterpillar knowledge:

  • Yes, there are lots. The ones with fur and of different colors are poisonous.
  • The most poisonous are the saddleback caterpillar, the puss caterpillar, the Io moth caterpillar and the hag caterpillar; their spines are connected to poison glands on their body.
  • A dingy yellow one isn't poisonous, but a bright yellow one can be, as can the green/red ones.
  • Many are stinging and very troublesome if you come in contact with them. Most are very colorful, as to let you know to STAY AWAY! here is a great link from University of Kentucky which shows photos of some doozies!\

"they"? There are too many animals in our world, and a lot of poisonous animals, you have to be specific, what kind of animals? If you want to know about snakes, there we go : The venomous snakes, have strong colors, and the non venomous have only one color(but there are exceptions),non venomous usually have a ROUND pupil in the eye,(its better dont try to check it out),some non venomous snakes will try to trick you,by having strong colors like venomous snakes. The venomous snakes have a flat head, the non venomous have a spoon-shaped round head. The venomous snake have an elliptical pupil like a cats eye, and they have a small depression between the eye and the nostril, its called a pit, they use it to sense heat in their prey, contrictors snakes arent venomous, but they are big and dangerous, dont get close to them. If you find a snake dont touch it, call someone,NEVER try to get a snake with your own hands.

You look it up - Worms are almost never poisonous. They are largely benign creatures that simply live and perform their God given function of replenishing the soil or devouring compost or waste.
