Well on this day. Sunday 17th August 2008 I have just bought my 2 first goldfish. To be honest i am no expert on fish, but if you think about it carefully, there are 2 easy ways to no. 1) Usually they are same colour, have same body qualities. 2) If you bought your fish from a Pet shop (like i did) it shows a picture of fish and tells you what species it it. There is probaly more ways but im no expert just using ma brain.
Fish that are the same species
Please tell what species of fish you are referring to.
I would stick to breeding the same species of fish. When two different types are bred, sometimes the young are unable to survive, since the parents are so different. To tell the gender, usually a male fish will have a longer annal fin then the female. But this does not always work. I would ask your vet or an assistant at the fish store at which you bout your fish. They are specially trained to tell the differences.
Each fish is different to tell the gender. Usually, the female is the larger one, and there are color differences, varying from species to species. Consult a field guide.
Yes, Cod is a species of Fish.
Please tell what species of fish you are referring to.
The term fishes refers to more than one species of fish, as in "There are many species of fishes." That said you could have any of the combination. School of fish - a group of fish made up of a single species, School of fishes - a group of fishes made up of more than one species. Shoal of fish - group of fish of the same species moving in roughly the same direction. Shoal of fishes - group of fishes of different species moving roughly in the same direction.
Depends on the species, but determined from an opening near the fish's anus.
yes
in the group, all the fish are of the same species = use "fish"in the group, the fishes are of different species = use "fishes"Fish is used as plural and singular. However,Fishes is used to refer to multiple species of fish.
Organisms of the same species will share common traits.
There is no one specific way to tell the difference between male and female fish. Different species have different ques, and in the vast majority of fish, there is really no reliable external way to tell a fish's sex.
