How do you know your parakeet's age?

Oh! I asked this question myself when i got my parakeet! You can very easily tell how old your parakeet is, just by looking at the lines on it's head. You must estimate though. There is no exact way of knowing how old your parakeet is unless you watch it hatch. If the black lines on a parakeet's head are very very close to it's beak, it is a very young bird. As the bird gets older, the lines on its head by its beak seem to disappear. if there are lines on the back of a parakeets head,expect it to die soon. Parakeets don't live that long.

"Parakeet" is not actually a species of any one bird. It is a general term, referring to any smallish parrot which has a long tail, such as the budgerigar or cockatiel, among others.

Many bird breeders band their budgie's leg when the birds are very young and newly hatched. This harmless band details its month and year of birth. However, not all birds are banded.

If you have a budgie, you can tell by the markings on the bird's forehead. Younger birds have darker, more prominent bands on their forehead. These bands fade as the bird grows older.
