The only way to be certain is to have it x-rayed. There are lots of small bones in the wrist, and you might have cracked one or more. It would still be usable, but painful.
There are clues to this kind of break. Does it hurt more when you move it a certain way? Is there a good bit of swelling? Both would be signs.
If you're tying not to waste a hospital trip, reduce any swelling with a cold compress (NOT heat, which promotes swelling) and immobilize it for 18-24 hours. If it isn't a lot less painful by then, you probably DID break something, and should have a doctor take a look.
A broken wrist is much more painful than a sprained wrist. Consult a doctor to be sure.
The only way to know for sure if your wrist is broken is through an x-ray. Consult your doctor.
distal to the wrist, because they are away from the shoulder (origin point)
The fingers are distal to the wrist. The wrist is proximal to the fingers. In anatomical position, it is possible to say the thumb is lateral to the wrist.
the fingers are DISTAL to the wrist bones.
I don't know that answer.... I have mine on and was wondering the same thing. I broke my wrist and I can move the area a little lower from the wrist in the cast and also my fingers. But they also put pins in my cast. They are going to x-ray my cast on Saturday and if the bone is still in place then the answer is no.
its most likely because your body has gone into shock, and since your fingers are the closest joints to the injury they react as well :) completely normal
The wrist is proximal to the fingers and distal to the elbow.
You should not be in pain 8 months after a broken wrist; something is wrong. What to do is see your doctor ASAP.
one of my friends broke their wrist and he was allowed to play tackle football so i would say any rides would be fine
While a doctor is needed to determine if you have broken your wrist, you can learn how to tell if you broke your wrist by certain symptoms you may experience. However even with a symptom check list, if you suspect you broke your wrist seek medical treatment immediately. Obvious signs of a broken wrist are deformities or odd appearances to the area. Also, if a bone is protruding through the skin, chances are you have broken your wrist. Other symptoms to help you tell if you broke your wrist include severe pain, swelling, and tenderness. Bruising and stiffness are also likely to occur. Often, numbness and cold sensations can be experienced with a broken wrist however some of these symptoms can also occur with a sprained wrist so if you suspect a problem get it checked out.
The muscles which allow you to extend your wrist and flare your fingers are the flexor muscles in the wrist and the prime movers in the fingers. These muscles will coordinate to adduct the wrist and the fingers.
distal
I do not know how doctors treat a broken wrist in this century, but when I broke my wrist in the late 1990's,the doctor just gave me an X-ray and put a cast on my arm. Unless your arm was infected, there is no need for a shot.
