In a word?......Communicate! If you have feelings to express, then express them. Ask him to go 'out'. Talk to him. Ask him questions. Be personal AND personable. WARNING! If he does not reciprocate, don't 'come crashing down'. He is but one. It is better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved. You have to be able to handle rejection. Respect his decision, no matter what it is. DON'T beat around the bush! Don't be scared to tell him how you feel, after all if you never ask you'll never no, and if you don't know it will probablly always bug you.
