How do you tell how old your Hermit Crab is?

Their really is no way to determine age but size.starting as small as a penny to as big as an orange and living up to 30-40years old you can make a scale to find age.Or ask the pet store you bought it from.

You will know your hermit crab is dead when it smells horrible (dead person horribe)

you could also tap its claw to see if its moving (they usually react to that) you could also feel the top of their shell . If their moving but wont come out 1.their alive 2.their probably molting (when a hermit crab is molting don't pick it up or play with it) you could also tell by tipping it over .if they move its for protection if not their probably dead.

I found out my hermit crab was dead because he smelt horribe and when i tipped him over he fell half way out of his shell . it was nasty. Also my friends little sisters crab died a day before mine.but she was in her shell. They found out because her mom almost barfed when she smelt it.

You could also tell their dead if they fall out of their shell .they will always cling on inside to not fall out but they wont cling on if their dead .
