Element- consists of 1 atom, can't be broken down further into simpler substance and it can exist as atom/ a molecule. Eg- all the elements in the Periodic Table

Compound- 2 or more elements combine to form a compound and hence can be broken down to its respective elements by "chemical means only "not by physical means

Example- salt (Na Cl)


Mixture- consists of 2 or more elements and/or compounds and can be separated by physical means 2 types homogenous mixture and heterogenous mixture

Eg- Sea Water
