The casting number will tell you what block it is, but in some cases the block will be more than one displacement. IE 302, 327, 350ci on the same casting number (chevy)

Find the casting number on them... type "GM (insert casting number)" into a search engine and you should find what you're looking for.
I'm assuming the engine is still in the car. The easiest way is to get the casting code of the block. It is located back by the distributor. There are several online sites that have these casting codes listed and will tell you what size and years the engine is.
It will have the rocket emblem stamped into the block casting. I don't have pictures of mine or I'd show you. Sorry.

Casting numbers on top of the bellhousing flange and the suffix number on the block deck in front of the passenger side head. The casting numbers will tell you which block casting you have. The suffix will tell you what HP rating it had, what it was likely installed in, and what transmission was mated to it.

those are block casting numbers That block was used from 1969-1979. it was used in corvettes,camaro,trucks,nova,etc. the pad on the engine block(front edge,right head) will tell you production date ,engine size etc.
