How do you tell twins apart?

For most sets of twins, you can see differences if you look hard enough. Look for freckles (not zits!), and possibly birth marks (please refrain from saying, "You can tell them apart by that big birth mark on Bella's forehead!). Fraternal twins do not look more alike than regular siblings (based on the opinion of the author and opinions of John Q. Public), but you may have a harder time with identical twins. If you happen to notice that one twin has a rounder face, I guess you can use that, but DO NOTsay, "So and so has a rounder face" or "Such and Such has chubbier cheeks. Oh, but that's a good thing, like a cute little chipmunk." No matter how you word this, comparing the weight or face shapes of twins can and will be interpreted as, "Bella has a fat face", or "Sammy is grossly skinny." If you use weight or face size to tell them apart, do not use it in conversation (even if you're not speaking directly to the twins. "good ideas" like that tend to spread around). I know what you're thinking- I don't know what I'm talking about, this is just a wikianswer. But as a twin, I've heard every offensive way to tell twins apart in the book. So please just use that freckle.
