Anoles are egg layers. Occasionally when they are on the glass near their lamp and the light is passing through them, you may see an egg near their vent a day or two before they lay it. They do not get pregnant in the same sense as a mammal does though.

For green anoles, females are usually around five inches long with a light dorsal stripe from neck to tail. Males are larger, about eight inches long, with larger head and larger snout. Females have a pale pink throat whereas males have a dewlap or a flap of skin hanging from the neck. Males have two large scales at the beginning of the tail, females do not have any scales on their tales.

For brown anoles, females are usually around four and a half inches long, light dorsal stripe has scalloped edges whereas males are over six inches long. Males have a large orange dewlap and females lack dewlap.

My anole lizard always puffs out his neck. Is that normal?

Yes, that is very normal. That is way to know if an anole is a male, if it shows a red neck flap. It uses that to attract females. He must have saw him self in a mirror and thought he was another female lizard. He also does that to give you a sign he is going to poop.

What do green anole lizards do when they are preganet?

Female anole lizards most of the time.... well.. I don't know. I just got my 2 anole lizards today and they both are females, though I can not tell if I have one that is pregnant... I will find out and hopefully and respond ASAP! :)

Does a chameleon eat a monarch butterfly?

Crickets, yes, grasshoppers I would not think so...... possible but It would depend on the size of the anole. From experience I know that crickets will bit a lizard with their mandibles, I would think a grasshopper would do the same, so if you do try it please be careful

Sounds like an Anole, which is sometimes called an American Chameleon, although it is no way related to true Chameleons.

Want to get a lizard but im not shure witch one yet all I do know is that I would like a small one like 4 inches or under if any do exist do you think you could help?

I would suggest an Anole, or even Bahama Anole. Although they are really fast so they shouldn't be held. if you want something you could hold, a leopard gecko wouldn't be too bad, and they are very easy to maintain. I have some, they do get to about 8 inches long at the max! but they are very friendly.

How do you know if your anole is healthy?

You know when your Anole is dead when it stops moving completely and when it decomposes (which means, when its skin is coming off).

What is a young lizard called?

It depends on what exactally you mean by small lizard. If you are reffering to a specific small lizard like a Gecko or an American Anole then you would obviously call them by their name, but if you are just looking for a general term that reffers to young lizards, well then I'm afraid I don't know of one.Little sheep are called lambs, young deer are called fauns, but little lizards are, as far as I know, still called lizards.some small lizzards are newts or efts.
