I have heard that it is best to have it removed. My doctor told me it might cause problems with natural birth and also, chances of getting pregnant is lower, or might take longer, because of the blockage... I just went through the removal process which included a minor surgery. It is under general anesthesia, but that's good because you won't remember anything at all. It is a day surgery, and you will feel a bit pain and discomfort after the surgery. My doctor gave me strong pain killers, but I really didn't need them, so I didn't take any and just stook with Motrin or Tylenol. It will take about 6 weeks to heal, but I think it's completely worth the worries...Helpful hymen informationInformation about hymens and microperforate hymens go to http://www.youngwomenshealth.org/hymen.HTML
