If your worried about your starter first go have your battery tested because if its not charged enough the symptoms can mimick a bad starter.

To test it while still in the car you can try jumping the terminals on the solenoid with a screw driver while someone tries to start it, as the solenoid is usually the part of the starter that gives out. But if the car is clicking instead of turning over when you try to start it your best bet is to go get a new one. If you want to be sure it's the starter autozone can test it for you when it's out of the car. There is a diagnostic they can do on the starter while it's in the car but it's not reliable.
