Loyalist's were people that were 'loyal' to the British Crown. They wanted the America's to stay under the control of the British empire. In rough number's the Loyalist's were 1/3 the total people of the Colonies. Some Loyalist's and separatist's were in the same families. Lucy Knox's family were Loyalist's while her and her new husband Henry Knox were separatist's.
