The most probable means by which the world can be expected to end, or to at least become uninhabitable to people, would be as a result of a large comet crashing into the Earth (similar to an event thought to have caused the extinction of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago). If this does not happen, in about 3 billion years the sun will expand into a red giant and the Earth will be cooked.
Scientists pretty much know how the actual planet we live on will end and so their end of the world predictions are likely to be accurate. Even in the few centuries that mankind has studied the universe, the science of astronomy has repeatedly shown that eventually the Sun will expand and consume the first three planets of this solar system. Even if it stops short of the Earth the intense heat will destroy every living thing on this little blue world. The good news is that this won't (or shouldn't) happen for another several billion years. In geological time humans haven't even been on this planet for a single second in the 24 hour lifespan of the Earth.
However, the bad news is there are many ways in which the planet could change so radically that the vast majority of people would be unable to survive. There are even some events that could end all life long before our several billion year window closes. According to many respected scientists - some of these predictions will definitely occur it's just a matter of when. In short, the only way that humanity will survive in the very long-term is get off this planet and spread across the universe (a bit like a virus moving from cell-to-cell). This page examines the predictions for the way in which humanity (and on occasions the whole world) is likely to end. We've ranked these predictions in order of diminishing likelihood. We reserve the right to change the order as and when we feel like it.
The world isn't ending this year that's how.
They say its not true
Nobody. This is a common misunderstanding of the Mayan calendar. It does not say the world will end in 2012. It alludes to the end of an age.
First of all, the world is not going to end. People say that to get attention. That is how Hollywood gets money to make that 2012 movie.
to be precise no. people say the world is going to end in 2012 december the 21
Some people say that the world is going to end in 2012 but they have seen the advert on telly for the film 2012 but it's just a film that doesn't mean that the world will end in 2012 so don't believe what people say unless they are a scientist
thy say that it will never happen
Nobody know when the end of the world will be. Both science and superstition have there viewpoints, but neither are significantly substantial.
whats in is that the world did not end
science says that one day the sun is going to blow up in a burst of light and that will be the day that the world is going to end
Well im no scientist but they said that in 1998 2000 and other times and it never happend so in my opinion I say....NO!
They say its not true
no she didnt say end of the world but as a symbol of everythings end she said world will end but not sure when
Its never going to end!
He say's that the world will not end in 2012.
If there is no "end" for the universe, how could you say how or when it will end ?
John Tomas Was the first one to say the world will end in a apocaypse.
