You don't. Serpentine belts are adjusted by a spring loaded device called a belt tensioner. If you belt is loose, then the tensioner is broken.
When a serpentine belt is loose it means either the belt has stretched and needs replacing, or the idler tensioner is defective and needs replacing, or both.
Your belt is probably stretched or the tensioner is weak. Try a new belt, or replacing the tensioner. If it is still loose get a 1/2 inch smaller belt.
If the belt is too loose or not there then yes - the water pump runs off the serpentine belt. If the belt is too loose or not there then yes - the water pump runs off the serpentine belt.
Should have an automatic belt tensioner - if tension not correct replace tensioner
either the belt is worn to the point of breaking or its very loose
No you can not, It is kept tight by a spring loaded belt tensioner with a smooth pulley on it. Probley needs a belt tensioner on it.
If it is a serpentine belt - adjusts automatically through belt tensioner If not check the alternator for adjuster or Power steering pump
You can't tighten a serpentine belt. The auto tensioner keeps the proper tension on the belt. If the belt is loose, it has stretched and needs replacing or the tensioner spring is weak or broken and the tensioner needs replacing, or both. . . INCORRECT. . . On the earlier serpentine belts they were tightened much like the old V Belts. For the 1992-1995 Jeep Cherokee you need to loosen the front two "holding" bolts and the rear two or three "holding" bolts on the power steering pump. Then you loosen and or tighten the bolt that is under the powersteering pump, facing toward the outside of the motor. it is almost hidden on the L6 models. That is the way it is done on these vehicles.
Check for loose or worn serpentine or drive belts.
You can replace the air conditioner serpentine belt of your 1995 automobile by removing the old belt. Take the new belt and feed it around the components. Loosen the tensioner bolt. This will help the new belt to fit properly. Once the new belt design tighten the tensioner bolt.
A 1995 Geo Prism may experience squealing if the power steering pump is failing or the serpentine belt is loose. Tightening the belt and applying a belt conditioner are the first step to addressing this problem.
you tighten it derrr!!
