Depends on the year and the induction system. In 1964 389 4bbl was rated at 325Hp 389 tripower was 348hp. In 1965 ratings were raised to 335 for the 4bbl and 360 for the tri power. What are the timing specs for a 1965 389 tri-power Pontiac GTO?

The timing specifications for a 1965 Pontiac GTO with a 389 engine and tri-power setup typically call for a base ignition timing of around 4 to 6 degrees BTDC (Before Top Dead Center) at idle. The total timing should ideally be around 30 to 34 degrees BTDC when fully advanced, usually achieved at approximately 3,000 RPM. It's important to ensure that the timing is set with the vacuum advance disconnected and to check for any additional specifications in service manuals, as variations can occur based on specific configurations or modifications.
