right hand side back of engine about half way down
dip stick is inside the filler cap of fluid holder
For the TS Astra with hydraulic-electric power steering, it takes a Pentosin CHF fluid. A couple of equivalents I have come across include Castrol Hydraulic System Mineral Oil Plus, and Penrite LDAS fluid.
The gearbox oil is separate from the engine oil on a 2002 1.4 Astra, and much thicker.
It is right beside the oil filter cap.

yes. but do not use steering oil for trnsmission.
YES. your power steering pump is a hydraulic pump that pushes fluid through lines to make your wheels move. hydraulic fluid such as ATF or POWER STEERING FLUID is good for your power steering pump. it is a PUMP after all. OIL has the purpose of lubricating, and has very different qualities than hydraulic fluid. DO NOT put OIL in your power steering pump... put POWER STEERING FLUID or if you can't get power steering fluid AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID will do...
What fluid? Engine oil, transmission oil, power steering oil, coolant fluid, brake fluid.
No. Put in power steering fluid.
The colour of the fluid in your car should be red, not brown. (Later astras use green mineral oil for the PAS). If it has discoloured, i would recommend replacing it as it obviously ain't been done for ages. The fluid you need to replace it is known as Dexron II, (ATF or auto geabox oil.)
You can pour fluid into the power steering reservoir. Remove the top to the reservoir and fill to the full Mark on the side of the reservoir.
power steering fluid. power steering fluid. power steering fluid.
You will screw your steering system. You need to flush steering system ASAP. And of course do not drive with engine oil in steering.
