This is a pretty easy trick to teach! Simpley put a treat under a large enough towel or some sort of mat or fabric and when the dog begins to paw at the treat then click them or use praise to mark the behaviour and give them a treat and repeat. Once they start doing this quickly then add the cue word as the dog does it each time and remove the treat from under the mat. Then say the cue word and they should paw at the mat. They should soon get the idea and be able to do it on cue away from the mat or fabric. They can be weaned off the treats if they are replaced by praise.
