1. Insert the floppy disk into the drive.
2. Open "My Computer"
3. Double-click the floppy drive icon.
4. Drag and drop the files you want to the floppy disk, or right-click the files, select "Copy", and right-click in the floppy disk folder and select "Paste."
If number 3 returns an error that the disk is not formatted, right-click the floppy drive icon and select "Format."
When prompted to format the floppy disk, click NO. Especially if the disk has files that you wish to access. Formatting the disk erases EVERYTHING on the disk and starts the disk anew.
A floppy disk is about 5 MB big, so 5120 KB will fit on a floppy disk.

The best way to recover data from a floppy disk is with floppy disk recovery software, such as Wondershare Data Recovery. Install and open the program. Locate your floppy drive and open it to view the files. You can then use the recovery program to recover any file from a floppy disk, even very badly corrupted ones.

Write-Protect Tab (you call it a "notch") is a little plastic rectangle in the upper right corner of most floppy disks. When the hole is open, the disk is locked and you can't add any more files to the floppy. If the write-Protect Tab is missing, simply cover the hole with a bit of sticky tape and you can add more files to the floppy..
I suppose technically... if you locate the cookie on your hard drive and copy it as a file into the floppy drive.
