1. Start by launching Windows Media Player by going to Start->All programs->Windows Media Player. Ensure the player window is maximized so that you can access the main menu options.
2. Check to see if you have the latest version of WMP by clicking on Help->check for player updates. If an update is available, you must see a window with download instructions.
3. Next try to configure the WMP's MP3 encoding settings by clicking Tools->Options->Rip Music.
4. You must find a heading "Rip music to this location". Under that, check the path on your local drive where WMP will save Ripped music files. The default should be the My Music Folder in your My Documents Directory. Click on the Change Path to change the location.
5. Try appending track number to your music files so that they play in order. To do so, click on the file name button and then check the Track Number box.
6. By Default, WMP rips music in the Windows Media Audio format. To switch to mp3, get to the Rip settings heading and select mp3 from the format pull down menu.
7. Once done, click the OK button at the bottom of the options window and return back to the WMP interface.
8. Click the Rip tab at the top of the WMP interface and insert your CD into your system's CD-ROM tray; WMP will automatically scan the disc and grab album and track information from the All Music Guide and the Windows Music database. If the player finds a match, it will appear below the track list. If everything looks good, click the Finish button.
9. In case the above method doesn't work, click on the search button to search again or Edit to tweak the info manually.
10. Now, uncheck the tracks which you don't want to rip from CD to library. If you want WMP to rip all the tracks do not uncheck any box.
11. On the right corner of the WMP window you should find the Rip Music Button. You may se a popup which may ask whether you want your music ripped to WMA files , then select keep current settings radio button.
12. Once WMP has done the ripping of your files, click on the Library tab, then the various All Music categories in the left hand column; you will find your new tracks there.

If you own the CD, it is permissible for you to make a copy of it for your mp3 player. If you don't own it, it is not allowed. Most people do it. No one is going to check your player to see what songs you have on it.
Physically, no. But you can download songs from cd's onto iTunes along with mp3's and can listen to both the mp3's and songs from the cd's on an iPod or mp3 player.
There's nothing illegal about copying songs from CD's you have purchased or paid downloads to an MP3 player for your own personal listening. The legal issue arises when someone attempts to profit from on-selling or unauthorized distribution of songs. Connect your MP3 device to your computer, usually through a USB cable or Bluetooth connection. Go to the drive and folder where your songs are stored and copy/paste to the MP3 player. If the songs are on a CD, import the CD into your music player program (like Windows Media Player and iTunes) in MP3 format. Then go the drive and folder where your songs are stored and copy/paste to the MP3 player.
convert the CD to A MP3 format and just drag the songs to the file!

You cannot connect portable cd players to mp3 players and given the capacity to hold songs on mp3 players their should be no reason to do so.
Here are the easy instructions on how you can transfer the songs to an mp3 player. Install relevant media software like for instance Sony Walkman MP3 requires Sonic Stage Software. Connect MP3 player to computer using a USB or firewire cable. Next, follow the instructions to customise preferences. Load the media files from your computer into your music library. Sync the files from your library to mp3 player. Once the syncing is complete, you can eject the media player and disconnect it from the computer.
