A platter is the portion of a hard disk drive that information is written to.
A hard disk is the physical medium information storage device of most computerized systems. It is an actual disk that rotates at high speed. The surface is coated with magnetic material, and data is stored magnetically on the surface. A tiny read/write head on the end of an arm that can move over the surface of the disk does the reading and writing to transfer the information to and from the medium.
A floppy disk DRIVE can read, erase and save information on a floppy disk. The disk can't do it by himself.
One way to back up information from a computer is to transfer the information to a Digital Versatile Disk by a process called 'burning'. This will involve the disk drive physically changing the surface of the disk by applying a small amount of light (and therefore heat) to a small are of the disk. Burning results in the information being permanently stored on the disk
go to the store and get it transfered.
