heres a website wich tells you how to trim their nails: http://www.guinealynx.info/nails.html
and also a video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNAX_k2EGw4
hope this helps.
equipment- A guinea pig, clippers u can use specially designed clippers or some of them ones for humans, a treat to distract piggie if its new to clipping nails or figity, a towl.
First put your guinea pig on your lap facing away from you and slide your hand under there hind leg and slowly bring it out. This is when you should give them the treat so they think that holding there leg is a good tHING. Next get the clippers and is your guinea pig has a light coloured foot, clip just before the blood vesel ends. With a guinea pig with a dark coloured foot just clip of a small bit about half a inch. If it bleeds get some talcum powder and place the guinea pigs foot into it and it will clot it. hope this helps there is also a video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNAX_k2EGw4
which gives alot of help. P.S on the video it says use styptic power if the nail bleeds, u can get this but if you dont have it use talcom power because it will probably be expensive in most pharmacys .
This is hard to explain. If you have a dog its just like trimming its claws. You must be careful not to clip too close and cut the blood vein in the claw or nail. Just snip off the pointed end of the nail.
When you cut your guinea pigs nails it must be after the red part of the nail. If it is before, the nail will bleed. However if the nail is black/brown then you would have to shine light through it so you know where to cut.
it will end up hurting the dog, also they could split and it hurts like when our nails split! TRIM YOUR DOG'S NAILS
I believe you are supposed to cut a guinea pigs nails once a year.
Clipping should only be done by a vet. 2 times in a year is plenty if it must be done. Putting wood toys in the cage will stop this from having to be done. The animal will grind down its own teeth on the wooden toys.
It is HIGHLY RECCOMENDED that you take your guinea pig(s) to the vet to get their nails cut so they are cut proparly. if you try to cut their nails you may cut them to short to where that will cause them GREAT pain, even to the point where they may bleed. TAKE THEM TO THE VET SO NO HARM IS DONE. sak :)
Guinea Pigs are not good climbers! So if they climbed they would barely get anywhere! Be carful tho because my guinea pig clims up to my shoulders and his nails are reeli sharp!

yes! They will have somewhat a very hard time walking and cause a lot of pain, so if this is what your guinea pig has, take it to the vet so they can trim its nails!
Take it to the vet. They will have to cut the nail off to appropriate size which might make your pig bleed. Do NOT do this yourself. You should trim your pigs nails weekly.

Yes. If you do not clip the nails, they will grow too long and eventually break on something, and injure the guinea pig.
Yes so make sure your guinea pigs get their nails clipped regularly, and when the guinea pig's nails start to curve put the run on concrete so they can scratch away and ware their nails down. Bent nails can be painful so keep an eye out as it makes it easier for guinea pigs to dig out of the run.
My guinea pig, Jojo does that. I think it is because their nails might be getting a little bit to long.
yes who else

food:feed in morning and afternoon once, treats once a day usually in between meals. nails: trim nails weekly bathe: bathe monthly clean: clean cage weekly play:everyday as much as possible
Yes they do, it cost's $4.00
as long as there is one person there to comfort the guinea pig too eg: feeding it its favourite food there is often no need for drugs as the guinea pig will be relaxed
