If your furnace is 20 kW unit, the maximum amperage it can draw is 83 amps at 240 volts. If it is a two stage unit the first element will be the 5 kW and the second element sill be the 15 kW element. If you are connecting the unit to a 60 amp breaker it will only allow either the 5 or the 15 kW element on but not both. The breaker in the unit needs a voltage source brought to it from the service distribution. If this is a new installation, call an electrician as permits should be taken out for your protection. By doing this, if a fault occurs and a fire is started the first thing that the insurance company wants to know is if the installation was inspected. If you have no documentation you might not be covered.

I would first try to turn the stat up to 80 degrees turn off both breakers, one to the outside condenser and the other to the air handler inside, leave the breakers off for about 30 minutes. then turn the breaker to the out side unit first then 5 minutes later turn on the breaker for the inside unit. Wait another 5 minutes and turn the stat to 68 and wait a few minutes system should reset and work like it should. If that don't work I would say the starter capacitor is bad. Or the compressor is bad. Or may need to refill the lines. If the first don't work it is time to call a repair man. Hope it works Sincerly Troy H

the date is on the data plate just about the service valves on the outside condenser. the serial number is how you can read the manufacture date. for example, serial number 9805100565, is read as manufactured in may 1998. this is the for all goodman and amana air conditioning units.
